Indiana

Bibliography

Indiana is the subject of a massive work which many philatelic bibliophiles consider the best work ever published on any state's postal history. Even this fine work has its limitations, with such a poor post office listing. These two works are the best for Indiana collectors

Market

The demand for Indiana covers is by county. There is marked preference for 19th Century material. While once a fairly poplar state, there are now fewer collectors chasing an increasing supply of covers.

2001 Update: Among the 50 states, the District of Columbia, R.P.O.'s and Streetcars, Indiana rates as the 15th state in terms of percentage of cover sold at 60.59%. It ranks 21st in terms of the value of covers sold as percentage of all town cancels sold at 1.52%. The overall rank is 11th. This is a ten year running average. The most recent trends are declining.
