Market

The market for Utah is the slowest of any western state. There are only a limited number of collectors. No discernable collecting pattern seems to exist. Despite a very accessible territorial period, I know of no collector of Utah territorial covers. With express covers, ghost towns, big cities and agricultural settlements, Utah would seem to offer something for almost anyone. A shame almost no one has taken on the challenge.

Among the 50 states, the District of Columbia, R.P.O.'s and Streetcars, Utah rates as the 47th state in terms of percentage of covers sold at 44.73%. It ranks 50th in terms of the value of covers sold as percentage of all town cancels sold at 0.52%. The overall rank is 53rd. This is a ten year running average. The most recent trends are decreasing.
